We stayed at Cooper Creek Campground in Northeast Georgia.
I was a beautiful place. We were able to set up our tent about 20 feet from the creek; I loved being about to fall asleep to that sound every night. It was also close enough that Grey could go play in the creek as he pleased. The creek was only 2 foot deep in the deepest parts. It was COLD. I actually did my very first polar plunge.
There were only a few things I did not like about this campground. First, there was no cell signal… I mean NONE. My phone said NO SERVICE the entire time… heck, I didn’t have service for about an hours drive. I know that the point was to unplug… but what if something had happened and I needed to call 911. You know, I have mom anxiety! The other 2 things are kind of connected… They only had “vault toilets” which is a nice modern word for outhouses. I am TERRIFIED of outhouses… they smell bad, they make me feel claustrophobic and the entire time I am in there I imagine all of the horrid things that are in the hole below me. Now, I am from the country and I have no issue what-so-ever in using a tree and I would actually prefer that over a “vault toilet’ buuuut… the campsites were on top of one another. I mean I could hear what was going on in the tent next to us. Other than those things it was a delightful experience.
There was a family beside us that had a little girl, she and Grey played for hours each day. They would chase each other, play in the creek, throw rocks, sit around the fire at one campsite or the other and just laugh, it was very sweet. I am so glad that he made a new friend.
Here are a few pictures from our little trip, I hope you enjoy them.
