A few weeks ago I was in search of a desk and being the frugal woman that I am there was no way I was going to pay department store prices for what I wanted. I cannot stand cheap ill made furniture; I love a good solid structure. I looked and looked with no luck, everything that I found was made from stinking particle board.
I love the fall.
No seriously…. I LOVE THE FALL!
It is my absolute most favorite time of year. The weather is perfection, the sun is always shining, and everything outside if turning beautiful. I love the cooler weather, it makes hiking more enjoyable. Fall is the perfect season for camping and bonfires.
Mondays are made for laziness around here—especially the rainy ones. I work 2nd shift at the hospital on Saturday and Sunday nights; I do not get home sometimes until 1am. Monday morning’s Grey and I sleep in pretty late; this morning we didn’t even open our eyes until 10:15am and it took us another 15 minutes to actually make it out of the bed. On Mondays we have brunch, because we sleep through breakfast. We do not take our pajamas off all day, and I do not even put a bra on. We lay around all day and watch movies and Bubble Guppies (Lord help!), we play games on his iPad, and do puzzles, sometimes we even get off the couch—to lay in the floor and play cars. There is nothing stressful about our Mondays; the most hated day in the world happens to be my favorite. I am sure that some people would have a fit knowing that I do not even comb our hair for one whole day every week. I place no pressures or expectations on us. If I feel like cleaning I will, but if I don’t.. It WILL be there tomorrow. I let Grey lead our playtime activities… whatever he wants to do is fine by me. We don't rush anything, and we don't have a schedule. Often we will take a late nap, like today we didn't wake up from our nap until 6:00 pm. It was glorious!
I think that too many parents are putting too much pressure on themselves and not taking enough time to relax and enjoy their children. I know that most of you will not be able to take a day every week to just turn the world off, but you should try to at least take a day a month. Relax however you feel best suits your family. To some people relaxing is a nice long drive to nowhere, fishing on the shady banks of a river, or lounging in the backyard all day—whatever it is to you please do it. I am going to refrain from giving you the “life is short” speech or even the “they grow up so fast” speech; we all already know this, we just forget. I hope that you are able to find some time with your family this week to just be together; close your work, facebook, twitter, the news, and anything else that might distract you from relaxing and enjoying the beautiful family that you have built.
We left out at 7 AM Friday to embark on Grey's very first Beach trip. It was the number 1 thing on my Summer Bucket List seen here. The ride down was super easy, only took us like 3.5 hours of drive time. By the way, if you ever go to Carrabelle... there is NO Waffle House in between Columbus, Ga. and Tallahassee, Fl. We were so happy when we finally found one. That was our first adventure of the weekend. We were STARVING.
Hello! Welcome to my page. Let me introduce myself, my name is Sami. I am a single mother to a wonderful little boy who is the love of my life. I love cooking, reading, couponing, and traveling. Being a parent is the greatest adventure I have ever been on in my life. My goal is to try and not screw him up too bad. I suffer with Borderline Personality Disorder, controlled most of the time. Sometimes my BPD gets the best of me and wins the battle. But the war is yet to be won. Thank you for joining me and I hope you enjoy my life as much as I do.
